SycoTec, a specialist in high-speed microdrives, can now set its turning tools for machining dental parts 30% faster using the »hyperion« from ZOLLER. This compact and high-precision tool measuring machine reduces the risk of tool breakage.
The Swiss-type and universal lathes at SycoTec are equipped with both driven tools and stationary turning tools. The »hyperion« presetting and measuring machine from ZOLLER performs its service in all areas - both in the universal turning machines from Index and in the sliding headstock turning area with Star machines. The latter in particular often use multiple turning holders, which offer space for several turning tools on one holder.
If you look at a dentist's handheld device, you can imagine how small its motors and drive units have to be to perform high-precision work at speeds of up to 500,000 rpm. In idyllic Leutkirch in the Allgäu region, SycoTec manufactures these and other parts, encountering tricky challenges in the process.
The company is also one of the largest suppliers of high-speed drives in the world. The division covers a wide range of customized electric drives, motor components, turbo generators, and special motors.
The third pillar, "Components", also requires a great deal of know-how and experience. Technologies such as milling, turning, grinding, honing, laser welding, deep drawing and robot welding are all available. Handling the large variety of static and rotating tools used on the numerous machine tools is a challenge for SycoTec, and intricate components with very low tolerances have to be manufactured in small to medium batch sizes.
