Which pallet systems are supported?

The »roboMark« automation solution is designed to be flexible and can be operated with different pallet systems.

Do existing systems need to be adjusted?

No. »roboMark« is designed to insert itself into existing manufacturing environments. In many cases, existing systems can continue to be used while tool data is automatically provided and processed. This keeps the integration effort low, and existing processes can continue to run largely unchanged.

Is it possible to trace the tools?

Yes, if questions arise regarding tools or if quality documentation is needed, the relevant information is readily available. Thanks to permanent labeling and automatic documentation, tools can be uniquely identified and assigned. This saves time when searching for data and ensures greater safety in production.

What happens if the tool has internal cooling?

Tools with internal cooling can be labeled with »roboMark« without any problems. Laser labeling is applied to the circumference of the shank and does not affect the function of the cooling channels. The labeling position is selected to ensure safe and permanent labeling while maintaining unobstructed tool functionality.

Can Weldon tools be labeled?

Yes, »roboMark« can also label Weldon tools. A specialized prompt during the process takes the Weldon area into account and ensures that the labeling is applied outside the clamping area. This preserves the full function of the tool holder.

The integrated collision-avoidance software reliably protects the system from collisions. The dual gripper enables fast loading and unloading, reduces non-productive time, and increases productivity. The clear overview of all gripper statuses ensures high process reliability. Thanks to support for various pallet systems (e.g., Rollomatic, ZOLLER), the system can be flexibly integrated. After labeling, the tools are automatically loaded directly onto the pallets.

Before the »roboSet 2« automation solution can start its work process, only the loading of the tools must be defined by an operator via the pallet management in the software. Thanks to the multi-pallet system (eight pallets as standard, nine as an option), large quantities can be processed and documented fully automatically. Overall, well-organized pallet management makes a significant contribution to process optimization, provides flexibility to handle different batch sizes and helps to move goods more efficiently and sustainably.

Camera for Process Monitoring

An integrated camera, which is available as an optional feature, enables ZOLLER service personnel to correct any irregularities that may arise more quickly and effectively.

In the upstream »roboClean« tool cutting edge cleaning system, the cutting edges of pre-cleaned shank tools are cleaned fully automatically in an ultrasonic bath and dust is removed. The tools are degreased and cleaned of dust to create optimal conditions for the subsequent laser processing. Air nozzles then ensure that the shank tools are dried. This ensures precise measurement results.

Weldon detection – Option

Automatic and contactless weldon detection takes place within the »roboSet 2«. The tool is aligned accordingly so that it can be safely picked up by the robot and labeled with »roboMark« at the appropriate position.

Storage area for tools that encountered an error during the process.

During automatic tool recognition, QR codes, DataMatrix codes, etc. are read via an integrated scanner. Thanks to the interface to ZOLLER TMS Tool Management Solutions, all information on the scanned tools is accessible and links to external workstations (e.g. to the regrinding counter) can also be implemented.

The automatic documentation of individual tools and batches ensures complete traceability. Audible and optical messages provide early notification of faults and maintenance needs. Thanks to the system’s service-friendly design, as well as remote access for software updates and remote maintenance, system availability remains consistently high. Optionally, a maintenance contract supports preventive servicing.

Status display

The status display in percent shows how far the current pallet has already been processed. It can also be used to calculate when the tools on the pallet have been measured and can be removed by the operator.

Pallet management

The ZOLLER pallet management system defines the placement and parameters. This means that all tools can be measured without further user input and customer-specific pallets can be defined. In addition, the tools are differentiated in the pallet management area and marked with different colors if a tool is out of tolerance, for example.
