Measuring Tools using CNC machines has serious drawbacks:   When machines are down, you are not making money. Touching off tools is often unsafe and very difficult. Trial cuts for sizing bores waste time and increase scrap. You cannot inspect the cutting tools’ geometry and condition.     In contrast, ZOLLER presetting and tool measuring machines make presetting simple.   Tools can be quickly set up and inspected for:    Tool runout and concentricity Tool geometry Preset to nominal length and diameter position Tool wear such as chipped or broken cutting tips   After tool measurement the tool data is sent electronically from the tool presetter to the CNC machine – fast and error-free.   The use of a presetter to measure and set tools off the machine can increase a shop ’s productivity by at least 12% for every machine that is cutting with preset tools.
